A letter from our Board

As you wander through these pages, we hope you will begin to learn who we really are and what makes Granada International School so special. We are a community of families, children, educators, contributing sister schools, local and foreign businesses and professionals who are all working together to build a better school for Granada and its neighbors. We want to provide our children with a secure and nurturing environment to explore and discover the world and themselves. We want to give each child the appropriate encouragement and guidance as they uncover the mysteries of language, the subtleties of expression, and the wonders of the natural world. Most good elementary schools will teach your child to read, write, compute, and examine; however, what makes us different is that we strive to light the fire of curiosity in each child, to nurture what makes your child special and let that strength and individuality lead them to greater confidence and achievement.

We understand our position within the community as an entity to facilitate change within the community and specifically in the lives of our students. A fundamental aspect of our charter is to assure that 35% of our student body is supported by donations and scholarships. Our scholarship program is designed to provide an education to any and all children regardless of economic background.

Our sole concern is for the intellectual, physical, and social development of our students and the community that supports them. We work to build and maintain a strong home/ school relationship with frequent communication, opportunities to participate in your child’s school day or volunteer your time and expertise, and engaging family events. By embracing our school mission, you and your family can be part of this enlightening and truly exciting educational experience.

What People Say

  • Granada International School managed to create an inspiring oasis without losing touch with Nicaraguan culture and society. For us it is the perfect match between European, US and Nicaraguan standards for education without being pushy or extremely competitive. My children feel free, but not unrestrained. They are being stimulated, and most important: they love to go.

  • Granada International school is a much needed addition to the schools available in Granada. Offering smaller classrooms and individual attention to the students. They are thriving and learning and laughing and engaging. They know no bounds as their opportunities are endless. With eager and loving teachers like Lauren and Manuel, the children also have good role models to emulate. This is a small school but a growing school, with grades added each year as the students progress. It certainly meets the needs for quality education without the need to drive to Managua. I have seen first hand the progress these children are making in so little time. Congratulations to the Granada International school for making Granada a better place to be and raise a family.

  • As a parent, I like and appreciate Granada International School because I see my two children’s desire to go every day.  The school has cultivated a love for learning in them.  There is also a cultural diversity, not only in the ethnic backgrounds, which in its own contributes to students’ social awareness, but also the different social/economic backgrounds from which all the students come. Lastly, the sense of community of the school is something I had never experienced before. It helps me, as a parent; grow consciousness about the needs of the students, teachers, and school.   I, for one, feel my family has benefited more from the school than what I have contributed with.

  • I love my school. The teachers are nice and they make it fun to learn. I have friends from different countries so I can learn about different cultures. We learn from the other classes to, and take trips to different places. And the food is good!
