Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I apply?

Applications are accepted on-line and in the office throughout the year.  Please visit the Admissions section of this website to learn more about Granada International School’s Admissions process.  For additional information or to schedule a school tour, please call the school office at 2552-6321 or 8688-1646 (Movistar).

Is there a Family Association?

The GIS Padres y Profes is an integral part of the school community.  Padres y Profes is a voluntary parent’s association, is responsible for planning and organizing many social, educational and fundraising events for the students, parents and faculty at Sacuanjoche.  All GIS parents are welcome to join the group.

How are families involved?

Granada International School is a small, tight-knit community where families, students, faculty and staff alike contribute their time, energy and talent to the students and the School.  We invite the families to participate in day-to-day operations by reading to a class or helping in the front office.  We also rely on the parents to organize fundraising and social events.

What additional programs does GIS offer?

GIS’s mission is to engage each student in “a creative, experiential, and bilingual learning environment to uncover the maximum intellectual, artistic, and physical potential of each student.”  Our commitment to educating the whole child is evident in all that we do at our School and our Programs are designed with that objective in mind. GIS will offer a variety of extra-curricular programs which will include but will not limited to the following: academic enrichment, athletic programs, dance, art, foreign language and music.  If you would like to participate or lead a program please contact the Director to discuss the potential program addition.

Does the School provide lunch?

GIS does have a lunch program.  For $40 per month we will provide a  choice of two hot meals  high in protein and complex carbohydrates and low in sugar.  Students are also permitted to pack a lunch but we request that parents try to avoid the prepackaged foods and anything high in sugar including packaged drinks.  All students should bring a water bottle as water is available in every classroom all day long.

Do you offer transportation?

At present, we offer a door-to door route within Granada for $33 per month and from Masaya for $80 per month.  There is the possibility of including additional routes as soon as there is sufficient interest to cover the cost of the route.
