Granada International School is a small bilingual primary school in Granada with a 35% scholarship program. We are a committed team of educators working to create the next generation of leaders in Nicaragua and our focus is to use education as a means to pull children out of poverty.
GIS welcomes volunteers from different backgrounds and skill sets. We offer bi-weekly development sessions, breakfast and lunch on work days, and the opportunity to grow. We are looking for people who are committed to serious work in a fun environment. We are happy to tailor a program to your interests and experience or see the below opportunities:
We are looking for a few Teaching Assistants to support our loving and innovative classrooms, help with curriculum design, extracurricular activities and by introducing your passions to our school. Must have experience working with children or currently studying education. We offer bi-weekly development sessions, on the job training and an incredible environment to contribute to education and further your skills. Either Spanish or English speaking or both! Minimum commitment 2 months, 8am – 1pm Monday – Thursday.
We are looking for experienced teachers that can help us to develop and integrate our curriculum and implement best practice for school and teacher development. Minimum stay one month, flexible schedule, 20 hours per week minimum.
We are looking for passionate individuals with experience or currently studying fundraising management. We need support for our Fundraising efforts to support our scholarship program as well as our capital campaign to build a new school campus. Grant and foundation research, grant writing, implementation of successful outreach practices—including direct mail, telecommunications, social media are all areas that would be valuable to us.
If you have a passion you would like to share with our students, we would love to have you come and give a presentation or demonstration. Whether it be yoga, martial arts, some fun facts and information about your country of origin, the importance of recycling, the concepts of engineering or a fun art project, we would love to have you share.
